FastMapping for Comprehension - Grade 3 (WFM-3)
15 engaging short selections written by classroom teachers. Each selection, both fictional and nonfictional, is based on the real life adventures of students that explore high interest topics.
Seven opportunities are presented in each selection to learn and practice one key reading skill or strategy such as main idea, cause and effect, summary, inference, and others that are commonly assessed on state reading tests.
Detailed lesson plans are provided for each selection which support instruction. Each lesson provides three opportunities to model the strategy, two opportunities for guided practice, and two opportunities for independent practice. FastMapping addresses all the skills and strategies tested on high stakes assessments.
Comprehension skills and strategies include: Vocabulary, Story Structure, Comprehension and Author's Craft. FastMapping vertically aligns with the current TEKS and common core standards.
